Wooden Shutters for Chelsea apartment Posted on 15 Oct 11:37 , 0 comments
In one of our latest installs, our client requested wooden shutters that were of a premium level, that would last for a long time and perfectly frame the beautiful large sash windows in the living spaces of the apartment. It was also important that they were in keeping with the interiors of the space and were timeless.

Due to our client requesting wooden shutters and because of the large size of the windows, we advised that our premium level hardwood shutter range ‘Samoa’ would be the most suitable material for the windows. Samoa is crafted in the highest grade Ayous wood and White Teak and features a thicker more robust frame which can include a hidden hinge. Due to its durability and structural integrity, Samoa is one of the most robust window coverings on the market. Another element of Samoa that we are proud of is that it is Responsibly sourced and complies with European Timber Regulation (EUTR).

The wooden shutters were to be installed in the Living Room & Dining Room and due to the location of the flat, privacy was an important element in the choice of window covering. However, maintaining light and also enhancing the architecture of the magnificent sash windows and interiors of the living spaces was also key.
Our client decided upon Tier on Tier shutters, due to the top and bottom sections working independently of one another it is one of the most versatile shutter styles we offer.

When light and air is what you require you can open up all the panels, but on cold dark wintery days and nights when you want to be cosy and keep things dark you can close them all up. So many options!

Our client was delighted with the result and so are we!

This article remains at its original URL as part of our complete journal archive. Its subject connects to the same specialist guidance our surveyors provide today: considering the window proportions, room, privacy requirements, light and the right product material before confirming a design.
A considered approach
Shutters are made to order, so good decisions begin with careful measuring and a clear understanding of how the room is used. Full height, café style and tier-on-tier panels each manage light and privacy differently, while bay windows, special shapes and wide openings need their own design response.
Our team can show you the current range of materials, colours, louvre sizes and hardware during a free home survey.
For confident DIY customers, selected shutter styles can also be measured and configured online. More complex bay, shaped and tracked installations are best discussed with our professional measure-and-fit team.
