We recently installed window shutters for a couple in Wandsworth who were looking to freshen up their property ahead of putting it on the market. As well as enhancing their already beautiful home they hoped shutters could add value, which is of course key to all sellers!
Adding plantation shutters to your home can significantly increase its appeal and value when it’s time to sell, often considered an upmarket window treatment, they can certainly help to justify a higher asking price in a competitive London property market.
To make the most impact and for consistency, they were keen to install shutters throughout the windows in their Wandsworth home, not just the front-facing windows. They had existing café style shutters at the front of the property, but in order to maximise on privacy and light control in the bedrooms, decided upon full height shutters.
When selecting which shutter range would be right for their windows they were keen to keep costs to a minimum but not to compromise on quality, so chose our most popular and affordable entry level shutter range, Antigua with 64mm louvres. Antigua Shutters are our bestselling product for a reason! They are super value for money but incredibly high quality. Manufactured in MDF, they are extremely durable, versatile, robust and stylish. An ideal choice for most rooms and properties. 64mm louvres are perhaps considered the most classic and traditional louvre size, they also work well with the size of the windows in this property.
In order to achieve a neutral aesthetic which would appeal to all they chose Pure White, which is available in our standard paint colour range. A great benefit of plantation shutters is their timeless design. Unlike some trends that may go out of style, plantation shutters have a classic, timeless design that appeals to a broad range of potential buyers. This could make your home feel more "move-in ready" with a touch of elegance. Many buyers understandably like the fact that they don’t have to think about the cost of finding new window dressings upon moving in. Shutters are also incredibly low maintenance, easy to clean and last for many years.
Plantation shutters add both aesthetic and functional value to your home, helping to make it stand out and achieve that much desired curb appeal.
