Plantation Shutters in Wandsworth Posted on 14 Oct 10:08 , 0 comments
We recently installed our bespoke plantation shutters in a period property in Wandsworth, South West London.
A typical terraced house with street facing windows, our clients were looking for a window dressing that would provide them with additional privacy but without detracting from the original period feature windows.
Our plantation shutters were installed in the kitchen and two bathrooms of the house. Shutters are a very practical solution for these high traffic rooms due to the fact they are very easy to clean and provide an uncluttered and stylish aesthetic.

For the shower room, a sash window, our clients selected our Java range which are 100% waterproof shutters, they are highly suited to particularly wet or humid rooms.

For the kitchen dining area and second family bathroom, our Antigua range was used. Antigua is our entry level mdf product, it is highly durable and hugely popular due to its durability and price point.
The kitchen dining area window is a bay window, and due to a window seat being built beneath it, it was essential for them to have a window dressing that framed the window and provided light control and privacy, but also didn’t take away from any of the space being used for seating. Full Height Plantation Shutters with a mid rail also allowed for maximum flexibility as the bottom and top louvres can be adjusted independently of one another.

In order to achieve a unified look throughout the clients selected 64mm louvres and a pearl paint finish.

This article remains at its original URL as part of our complete journal archive. Its subject connects to the same specialist guidance our surveyors provide today: considering the window proportions, room, privacy requirements, light and the right product material before confirming a design.
A considered approach
Shutters are made to order, so good decisions begin with careful measuring and a clear understanding of how the room is used. Full height, café style and tier-on-tier panels each manage light and privacy differently, while bay windows, special shapes and wide openings need their own design response.
Our team can show you the current range of materials, colours, louvre sizes and hardware during a free home survey.
For confident DIY customers, selected shutter styles can also be measured and configured online. More complex bay, shaped and tracked installations are best discussed with our professional measure-and-fit team.
