We recently collaborated with Big Step Property Ltd., a company that manages high-end London property refurbishments from start to finish, on a project in Chelsea. Having worked together on several occasions, we were delighted to support them once again - this time delivering a practical yet stylish window solution for a lower ground apartment.
The Brief: Privacy, Light Control & Enhanced Security
The project involved two large windows in a lower ground apartment in Chelsea. As with many basement-level spaces, the key requirements included:
- Maximising natural light
- Maintaining privacy
- Improving home security
Security was a primary concern for the client, making it essential to find a solution that offered protection without compromising on design.
The Solution: Aluminium Security Shutters
To meet these requirements, we recommended our Aluminium Security Shutters from the Portchester Range, installed in a full height with a split louvre style.
Designed specifically for properties requiring additional protection, these shutters provide a robust and secure barrier while maintaining a high-end aesthetic. The full height with a split louvre design also offers maximum flexibility, allowing the top and bottom lourvres to operate independently for optimal control over light and privacy.
Why Choose the Portchester Range?
Our Portchester Range is a popular choice for London homes, particularly in areas like Chelsea where both style and security are essential. Key benefits include:
- Enhanced security for ground floor and lower ground windows
- Durable aluminium construction for long-lasting performance
- Excellent light control and privacy
- Custom-made shutters for a perfect fit
A Seamless, Stylish Finish
For this project, the shutters were finished in a sophisticated satin white. This finish closely replicates the look of traditional wooden shutters, ensuring they blend effortlessly with the apartment’s interior design.
The result is a clean, contemporary look that enhances the space while providing the added reassurance of increased security.
The Perfect Balance of Style and Security
This Chelsea refurbishment highlights how the right window shutters can successfully combine form and function. Our aluminium security shutters offer a smart, stylish solution for homeowners looking to improve safety without compromising on design.
If you’re renovating a London property and need window dressings that combine elegance with security, the Portchester Range is an excellent choice.
