Plantation Shutters – Don’t Move, Improve your House! Posted on 17 Apr 10:10 , 0 comments
Rather than moving house, due to the rise of property prices, school catchment areas and particularly since the rise in stamp duty in December 2014, UK homeowners are now deciding to add improvements to their home rather than forking out on moving house. Improve rather than Move!
This is something we are very familiar with here at The Shutter Shop and are ready to support & advise our customers on their Home Improvement Projects. With our showroom based in London, in the Chelsea Design Quarter, we offer both a full measure and fit service or also DIY shutters through our online shop.
Shutters are the perfect way to update, add value and improve your home from both outside and within. Shutters are certainly an investment and a considered purchase, but being timeless in their design & look, it means that they will last the distance, and hopefully due to their neutral aesthetic, will be an appealing asset when you are looking to sell on your home in the future.

We have different ranges of shutters which allow for different budgets; from our entry level Antigua Range in MDF through to our premium level Samoa Range in White Teak and Ayous Hardwood. We also offer different styles depending on the look and requirement you are after; Full Height, Tier on Tier and café.

Shutters are extremely versatile, they look just as good in a traditional period home as they do in a state of the art modern apartment, in a London townhouse or a village cottage. In addition to this our shutters come in 31 paint colours, 28 wood stains & also the option for a custom colour of your choice is also possible!
Did you know it is National Home Improvement Month? Kick start your home improvement projects this Easter weekend and check out our shutters. Not sure which to choose? If you need some inspiration beforehand, browse our online gallery or instagram feed!
Don't forget that if you have any questions or need guidance with the best product and design for you, how to measure or are nervous about fitting then do remember our survey and install service covers all of London, Surrey, Hampshire, Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire we can always send one of trained surveyors to assist.

This article remains at its original URL as part of our complete journal archive. Its subject connects to the same specialist guidance our surveyors provide today: considering the window proportions, room, privacy requirements, light and the right product material before confirming a design.
A considered approach
Shutters are made to order, so good decisions begin with careful measuring and a clear understanding of how the room is used. Full height, café style and tier-on-tier panels each manage light and privacy differently, while bay windows, special shapes and wide openings need their own design response.
Our team can show you the current range of materials, colours, louvre sizes and hardware during a free home survey.
For confident DIY customers, selected shutter styles can also be measured and configured online. More complex bay, shaped and tracked installations are best discussed with our professional measure-and-fit team.
