Introducing our new range of Fly Screens Posted on 23 May 16:32 , 0 comments

We are delighted to have added Bespoke Fly Screens to our product range at The Shutter Shop. Having had numerous requests from our customers for ways to keep mosquitos, wasps and flies out of the homes we felt this was the perfect product to be able to offer along with our existing shutter and blind ranges. If you already have shutters, blinds or curtains in place, but are looking for extra protection from insects, then retrofitting a fly screen behind them is possible with minimum fuss.

Particularly with many of us now having large patio doors, bifold doors and French windows, having a solution in which you can let all the fresh air into your home but not allowing any unwanted winged visitors in is very appealing. During the summer months many of us like to have fresh air circulating the house during the evening too – but with lights on, bugs are attracted to come inside, with insect screens on your windows this will stop this and allow you to benefit from the cool air.

The fly screens are so well made and installed in a way that encompasses the property as opposed to being an obvious add on; matching existing frame colours if requested, integrating with home automation systems if required and retracting out of sight when not in use. These bespoke fly screens are the perfect way to allow air to flow throughout the home; providing a discreet barrier they prevent insects entering the room but without obscuring the view.

Manufactured in the UK with a quick lead time, each screen is carefully hand-made to precise customer requirements, quality checked and fitted by our trained team. Within the fly screen range we offer 3 models of insect screens tailored to suit differing sized windows or doors. Serene suitable for most standard window sizes and Legacy and Distinction designed for larger doors and patio windows. Depending on your requirements the insect screens can be manufactured with a variety of mesh types.

The Shutter Shop has spent more than 35 years helping homeowners find made-to-measure window treatments that work with the character and practical needs of their homes.

This article remains at its original URL as part of our complete journal archive. Its subject connects to the same specialist guidance our surveyors provide today: considering the window proportions, room, privacy requirements, light and the right product material before confirming a design.

A considered approach

Shutters are made to order, so good decisions begin with careful measuring and a clear understanding of how the room is used. Full height, café style and tier-on-tier panels each manage light and privacy differently, while bay windows, special shapes and wide openings need their own design response.

Our team can show you the current range of materials, colours, louvre sizes and hardware during a free home survey.

For confident DIY customers, selected shutter styles can also be measured and configured online. More complex bay, shaped and tracked installations are best discussed with our professional measure-and-fit team.
