Shutters and Blinds for a Farmhouse Renovation in Northamptonshire Posted on 26 Jun 20:00 , 0 comments
We recently completed a beautiful installation of shutters and blinds for a farmhouse renovation located in the heart of the Northamptonshire countryside. The family renovating the property approached us seeking a stylish yet practical window treatment for a standout feature in their master bedroom — an amazing, nearly 4-metre wide by 3-metre high window, offering spectacular views of the surrounding landscape.

Balancing Light, Privacy and Style
This large window is undoubtedly the crowning jewel of the room, filling the space with natural light and uninterrupted countryside views. The key was to provide a solution that allowed for privacy, insulation, and room darkening when needed — without compromising on the view or the room’s natural brightness when not required.
The Solution: Tracked Bi-Fold Shuttersand Motorised Honeycomb Blinds
After an on-site consultation, where we surveyed the window and discussed the family’s needs in detail, we recommended a combination of Tracked Bi-Fold Shuttersand Motorised Honeycomb Blinds — a pairing that offers both elegance and functionality.

- Tracked Bi-Fold Shutters: Also known as tracking system shutters, these are ideal for wide or tall windows. The shutters we installed fold neatly along a track, allowing them to concertina to the side and reveal the full window.
- Material: Fiji Range – our premium lightweight hardwood, perfect for large spans
- Finish: Aura White
- Features: 89mm louvres, hidden tilt rod, and white hinges.
- Motorised Honeycomb Blinds: To achieve complete darkness for sleep and further insulation, we fitted motorised, room-darkening honeycomb blinds discreetly behind the shutters.
- Operation: Cordless and mains-powered for ease and child safety
- Style: Single pleat in Champagne colour
- Function: Excellent for blocking light and reducing noise — an ideal solution for bedrooms
This combination offers our clients maximum flexibility — from full daylight and open views to a dark, quiet, and private bedroom sanctuary at night.

Our clients were thrilled with the final result, and so are we. This project is a perfect example of how a site survey can make all the difference. It allows us to explore options in person, take precise measurements, and work collaboratively with the client to tailor the best solution for their space.

This article remains at its original URL as part of our complete journal archive. Its subject connects to the same specialist guidance our surveyors provide today: considering the window proportions, room, privacy requirements, light and the right product material before confirming a design.
A considered approach
Shutters are made to order, so good decisions begin with careful measuring and a clear understanding of how the room is used. Full height, café style and tier-on-tier panels each manage light and privacy differently, while bay windows, special shapes and wide openings need their own design response.
Our team can show you the current range of materials, colours, louvre sizes and hardware during a free home survey.
For confident DIY customers, selected shutter styles can also be measured and configured online. More complex bay, shaped and tracked installations are best discussed with our professional measure-and-fit team.
